Phillip Aikman, Artistic Director/Conductor

Phil Aikman, Artistic Director of the MPO since January 2005, is a member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Fort Worth. He is a combat veteran, having served as an Army officer in Vietnam before attending Texas Christian University, where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in music education. He is a member of the TCU Ex-Bandsmen Association Band of Fame.

Phil spent many years as director of the award-winning Castleberry High School band program, where he developed a renowned jazz ensemble. Today he is Director of Fine Arts for the Castleberry ISD.
